The importance of your gutters

Your gutters are designed to collect the rainwater that runs down off of your roof and provide an unobstructed path to the your properties surface water drainage system. Modern properties have seperate drains for surface water and wastewater.

Surface water drains direct the rainwater away from your property providing a clear path to rivers and beaches where it enters untreated. Your wastewater drain guides the foul water away from your property to your local wastewater treatment facility.

Blocked gutters create a number of issues

Blocked gutters prevent the flow of water into your downpipes and away from your property leaving it to accumulate within the gutter, this horizontal section is sometimes refered to as a channel or trough. Now thinking back to our school years, every litre of water weighs 1kg so it doesn't take much rainwater to accumulate before your gutters are tasked with holding up a considerable amount of weight. Likewise any organic debris laying within your gutter becomes sodden, further adding to this weight acting upon your gutter and the clamps holding it up.

In heavy rain your gutters very quickly become overun causing the rain runoff from your roof to drop directly to the ground. Over time the impact of this runoff causes ground erosion which often leads to uneven paving and damaged pathways around the perimeter of your property.

If water is left to run down walls for any length of time it quickly stains, this is something often overlooked until the damage is done. Left long enough, organic matter will take root which can cause damage to stone and brick walls.

Roof tiles, birds and even dead rats have been the cause of blocked gutters we have been asked to clear so it's not always leaves and moss that are the root cause of a blockage!

We can clear your gutters of debris and remove blockages from £65.

We have a tiered pricing structure reflecting the height of the gutter to be cleared. We can clear the gutter of a single story property, such as a bungalow, right upto four story buildings such as flats, schools or commercial units or offices.

For the majority of jobs this takes place from the safety of the ground, using our industry leading high reach 'gutter vacuum'. Whilst we are insured to work at heights, clearing gutters from the ground removes the risks associated with working from ladders. All we ask of you is to provide a plug socket we can use to power our gutter vacuum.
